ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN SERVICE PROGRAM
Welcome to the HWCDSB Christian Service Volunteer Program
Secondary students are required to complete 40 hours of Christian Service Volunteer hours in order to be eligible to graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) as a outlined by the Ontario Ministry of Education Policy/Program Memorandum No. 124a.
Serving others is at the heart of Catholic education, and has always been a central part of Catholic schools throughout the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. Helping others, both close to home and across the world, reflects both the example of Jesus and the teaching of the Church.
Through the Christian Service Program, students continue to be challenged and enabled to put into practice their baptismal commitment to serve others, especially those “who are least among us” (Mt. 25: 35-36, 40), all the while fulfilling their graduation requirements.
