Running for Rachael (RFR) plays a vital role in supporting the city-wide work of suicide prevention in Hamilton by bringing the community together to promote hope, help, and healing through crisis support information, training, education, and support groups.  

 

Students from the HWCDSB have participated in this community event for over 6 years. Like last year, this event will be virtual again, giving the students an opportunity to choose the day and location of their choice. 

Registration will close on Friday, October 29, 2021.

For students who register online, participate, and collect/submit donations, 6 hours of Christian Service will be approved. 
 

** Students who are in serious financial situations are encouraged to visit their Student Success Teachers who will assist with the donation costs.

To receive your 6 volunteer hours,
YOU MUST complete both STEP 1 AND STEP 2 below.

STEPS TO EARN YOUR 6 VOLUNTEER HOURS:

STEP 1/2 - REGISTRATION

  1. Go to https://spcch.org/event/running-for-rachael/ and scroll down to "click here to learn more or register to run".

  2. Click "Register" on the left side panel.

  3. Fill in your email and create a password (must be at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and be between 9 and 64 characters). If you participated in previous years, you can use your previous email and password. 

  4. Sign up for the 5km run or walk.  It doesn't matter what method your use to complete the distance. 

  5. When it asks for whom you are completing this registration, click "myself".

  6. Fill in your personal information. 

  7. Under the Teams question, click, "Yes, add this registrant to a team created by someone else."

  8. For Team Category, click "family and friends".

  9. Under the drop-down menu for "Team", scroll until you find "HWCDSB Students"

  10. Click allowing the team captain to see your registration. 

  11. Read the waiver and inform your parent/guardian. If you do not have any questions, click the waiver. 

  12. Select an amount to donate. You are strongly encouraged to donate a minimum of $25 (seek donors).

    • ** Students who are in serious financial situations are encouraged to visit their Student Success Teachers. 

  13. Click to donate to the HWCDSB Student Team so that your registration can be monitored. 

  14. Click for an income tax receipt. 

  15. Ensure that the billing address is correct.

  16. Enter the credit card information. 

  17. Enter your email so that you can receive a receipt (for donations of $10 or more).

  18. Be sure to keep yourself safe and follow COVID-19 protocols during your participation.

  19. Feel free to share your photos on social media by tagging @RunningforRachael2021 and send messages of hope with #RunningforRachael2021.

STEP 2/2 - VOLUNTEER HOURS
 

  1. CLICK HERE or visit www.hwcdsbcs.com/2021-registration-running-for-rachael and fill out the HWCDSB student registration form.​​

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP IN ORDER TO RECEIVE YOUR CHRISTIAN SERVICE VOLUNTEER HOURS!​

How do I receive my Christian Service Hours?

Once you completed both of the steps above, your volunteer hours will be automatically sent to your school in November.  Please be patient with the process and expect your volunteer hours to appear in My Path or
My Blueprint in late November, early December.
